The site of a shuttered strip club on East Colfax could get new life as affordable housing.
The bunker-like building that housed PT’s All Nude II and a sign that still says “nude dancing” still sit at 8315 E. Colfax Ave., one of three lots Denver’s Office of Economic Development named in a call it made Thursday to developers.
Denver had identified the site as a potential location for new housing, including affordable housing, more than a year ago.
The request for proposals for 8315 E. Colfax Ave. and an adjacent lot at 1500 Valentia St. seeks a buyer or buyers who would build a mixed-use development that includes affordable rental housing.
On the third site, an empty lot at 7900 E. Colfax Ave., the city envisions permanent supportive housing for people who have experienced homelessness and commercial uses.
OED added the three parcels are currently zoned for buildings up to three stories and are undergoing rezoning to allow five stories. A City Council hearing on the rezoning is expected in November.
The deadline for proposals is Dec. 13.
