Divers with the Denver Fire Department recovered a body around 6:30 p.m. after combing Duck Lake at City Park on Tuesday afternoon.

Authorities were searching for a person who two witnesses said rode a bike into the water and did not resurface. Divers found the body on the north side of the lake, where there is no path.

Denver Fire Department Captain Greg Pixley said the call came in at about 4:15 p.m. The witness was on the north side of the lake, at the Denver Zoo, Pixley said. They told authorities that the bicyclist either fell in or jumped in.

"(The witnesses) said they saw someone go into the lake on a bike go in, he flailed a little bit and struggled," Pixley said, adding that they saw his hands waving above the water.

Pixley said the body would be turned over to the Denver Police Department.
