A stretch of northbound Speer Boulevard will be closed on Presidents Day

Northbound Speer Boulevard will be closed between Lawrence and Market streets on Monday.

Denver Department of Transportation and Infrastructure crews will close the stretch from 3 a.m. to 11 p.m. to stage and place 100-foot-long concrete girders that will become the primary support system for the new Larimer Street bridge.

The old bridge is being replaced with one that will feature a two-way protected bike lane, 12-foot-sidewalks and other features meant to make the bridge that connects the Auraria campus with Downtown more pedestrian friendly.
