Update on 04/06: With the newest drop in votes, Nick Campion has pulled away from Adam Estroff for the second spot in the runoff race. Flor Alvidrez still leads and will be heading to the runoff on June 6.

Update on 04/05: Flor Alvidrez still leads in the south central district race. There was a change in second and third but there's still a toss-up for her opponent in the runoff race.

Since Tuesday, the second seat in the runoff race has been up for grabs but it looks like second and third place are separating with the newest batch of results.

As of day three, candidate Flor Alvidrez still leads with 38.43% or 5,820 votes. So far, 15,144 votes have been counted. Results are unofficial until April 20, but as of now, Alvidrez's lead is enough to get her to the June 6 runoff.

Sitting in second is Nick Campion with 19.21% and Adam Estroff is still sitting in third with 18.58% of the vote. On Wednesday, about 54 votes separated Campion from Estroff. Today that number has widened slightly to 95 votes.

According to the Clerk & Recorder's office, there are only 2,400 ballots remaining.

The district was stacked with candidates vying for Councilmember Jolon Clark's seat after he decided not to run this year.

Alvidrez is part-owner of her family's concrete contracting company and she also runs a real estate business. She wants to be the one of the first representatives of District 7 to hail from the west side of I-25. She's focused on helping small businesses and affordability.

Estroff is the former president of YIMBY Denver and said he's focused on housing and boosting bike and transit infrastructure.

Campion is the CEO of three software companies and has worked with climate-oriented community groups and entrepreneurs. He said homelessness and sustainability are his top issues.

One of the biggest issues facing the district is the restoration of small businesses. During the pandemic's darkest days, businesses along South Broadway's busy commercial district told us they worried already-high rents and an evaporated customer base could spell disaster. Fast forward a few years, and that's come to fruition, at least a little. Some longtime businesses there, like the Hope Tank gift shop, did end up closing doors. Those who've held on have seen their finances bounce back.

Transportation is also an issue. Recently, the city said it would finally expand the Broadway bike lane in that area past its pilot phase. Officials are also reconsidering big changes at Broadway and I-25.

This story will continue being updated as new results are received.
