Our beloved meteorologists say Saturday is supposed to be nice. A high of 70 degrees with some clouds. That sounds like picnic at the park weather. And after a good meal, you'll need a good book.

So it's a good thing Saturday is also Independent Bookstore Day! There's no better day to shop locally and get some interesting merch, like reusable bags for said picnic -- and of course, some books. We have a list of a few shops hosting events and a few others you can visit.

If we missed any events or shops in Denver or nearby, send me an email at [email protected].

Second Star to the Right Bookstore
1455 S. Pearl Street

The children and young adult book store is hosting two events on Saturday. Starting at 10 a.m. there will be a storytime with author Jessica Lanan. She'll be reading one of her newest books, "Jumper: A Day in the Life of a Backyard Jumping Spider." Breakfast from Duffey Roll will be provided.

Later at 2 p.m., there will be an Alice in Wonderland Tea Party with prizes and games. Costumes and Mad Hats are highly encouraged!

You must RSVP for both events and the tea party will cost $10 for one child and caregiver.

You power Denverite!
