Blake Street and Market Street are getting new protected bike lanes, spanning from Cherry Creek Trail to Broadway.
The Department of Transportation and Infrastructure (DOTI) is also adding transit-only lanes for buses along Blake Street from 14th to 18th Streets., and along Market Street from 14th to 17th Streets.
The lanes will include posts, repurposing 250 parking spaces and relocating a few loading spaces.
"The new protected bike lanes on Blake and Market, totaling 2 miles, will provide dedicated space on the street for people to bike and scooter, reducing concerns about scooter riding on sidewalks and improving the environment for people walking," DOTI wrote in a release Friday.
DOTI is also building pedestrian walkways along Market and Blake Streets near Coors Field.
Construction began this week, and DOTI estimates it will take two to three weeks to complete the first bike lane on Blake Street.
