It's happening.
There is an opening date for the Ross-Cherry Creek Branch Library.
Denver Public Library announced Wednesday that the branch will reopen on Nov. 13 and will operate with extended hours.
From Monday through Thursday, the branch will be open 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. From Friday to Saturday, it will operate from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
The branch temporarily and unexpectedly shut down in January 2022 after the building underwent a structural review.
"As part of the Denver Public Library's commitment to care for its facilities, the structural review was part of the regular process of assessing all buildings within the library's portfolio," a press release said. "These assessments allow facilities management to keep library buildings in good condition over time."
The review determined that "more analysis was needed to ensure the structural integrity of the building." That second review was completed in May, and it determined that the building structure didn't need any "intensive work...just maintenance."
DPL said that work will be completed through the next year.
Since DPL determined that the building could be occupied, it has performed essential services such as checking building systems, cleaning evaluations, IT work, shelving rearrangement and collection maintenance. It also hired new staff.
The additional hiring, extended hours, new layout and small upgrades were all funded by Strong Library, Strong Denver, through the DPL Fund.
