Free museums, Denver Film Festival kick-off and more ways to celebrate Denver Arts Week, Nov. 3-11

Be on the lookout for a number of free and low-cost events. Here’s some of what you can expect.

In celebration of Denver's arts and culture scene, Visit Denver is back with another week of special programming and promotions beginning this Friday, Nov. 3.

Organizations across the city will offer expanded First Friday Art Walks, discounts on memberships and even free admission to Denver Museums.

A lot is happening, so make sure to look for a complete list of events and deals on Visit Denver's website.

Here's some of what you can expect:

Free Night at the Museums 

Participating museums will be offering free admission from 5-10 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 4. There will also be free shuttle buses that will stop at or nearby listed museums beginning at 5 p.m.

The Denver Art Museum will also offer $5 tickets to see their exhibition "Amoako Boafo: Soul of Blacks" from 10 a.m.-10 p.m.

Denver Film Festival Opening Night 

To help kick off Denver Arts Week, the 46th Denver Film Festival (DFF46) will officially launch on Friday, Nov. 3, at the Ellie Caulkins Opera House with a presentation of "American Fiction." DFF46 will run Nov. 2-12 and feature a lineup of 186 feature-length films, documentaries and shorts at venues across Denver.

Penny Saturday at MCA Denver 

The first Saturday of the month means that Colorado residents can stop by MCA Denver for just a penny.

This is a great opportunity to check out their "Cowboy" exhibition, representing a wide range of perspectives including Asian, American, Latinx and Native artists on what we have come to define as the American Cowboy.

Día de los Muertos and First Friday 

Many galleries will be open and offering expanded opportunities in celebration of Denver Arts Week kicking off this Friday. There will also be plenty of opportunities to check out Día de los Muertos celebrations which will run throughout the weekend such as Denver Art Society and Pirate: Contemporary Art gallery.

Free Textile-themed Events 

Denver Arts & Venues will also be offering three free events connected to the Buell Theatre and McNichols Building exhibitions highlighting worldwide and local textile artists. Exhibitions highlight contemporary artists and current designs featuring work using tangible mediums like cloth, fabric, fiber, thread and yarn.

"Community Cloth" Exhibit Tour and Curator Discussion 

Date: Tuesday, Nov. 7

Location: McNichols Civic Center Building, 144 W. Colfax Ave.

"Woven Together" Opening Reception 

Date: Wednesday, Nov. 8

Location: Temple Hoyne Buell Theatre, 1350 Curtis St.

"Culture Cloth" Exhibit Tour and Curator Discussion 

Date: Thursday, Nov. 9

Location: McNichols Civic Center Building, 144 W. Colfax Ave.

$5 Denver Public Art Tour

A "Colorado Panorama Denver Public Art Tour" is a ceramic tile mural showcasing more than 120 prominent Colorado figures. The 45-minute tour will delve into the artwork and figures such as Nikola Tesla, Molly Brown, Emily Griffith, Dr. Justina Ford and Little Bear.
