Mutual Aid Monday, an organization providing direct support to unhoused residents in Denver, is celebrating its third anniversary tonight at 14th Ave. and Bannock St. from 4 to 7 p.m.

"They have done more to respond to the crisis needs of our community than anyone else over these past 3 years," wrote the Housekeys Action Network Denver, in a statement.

That includes getting hotel rooms for hundreds of people during storms, passing out "hundreds if not thousands of tents," attending hundreds of sweeps and providing coffee, breakfast and "intervening when City officials try to trash property or treat people like trash," according to HAND.

As part of the celebration, at 5:30 p.m. homeless advocates will be kicking off Campaign 5280, a drive for winter survival gear to help people living outside stay alive through the coldest months.

Items needed, according to the Housekeys Action Network Denver, include: tents, tarps, sleeping bags, blankets, coats, warm clothes, warm gloves, hand and foot warmers, and baby and children's winter clothes.

The group has a full list on Amazon.

Donations will be accepted at Mutual Aid Monday's weekly gathering at 14th and Bannock from 4 to 7 p.m.

You can also schedule a drop-off or pickup through HAND at 701-484-2634 or [email protected].
