The University of Denver hockey team is on a frozen quest to become the winningest college hockey program in the country. But first they have to get past the 2-seed Boston University Terriers in this Thursday’s Frozen Four matchup.
Opening faceoff is set for 3 p.m. and will be broadcasted on ESPN2 and 104.3 The Fan HD3.
The game will take place at the Xcel Energy Center in St. Paul, Minnesota -- but there will be plenty of opportunities to catch the action in Denver, including the Pioneers' hockey temple, Magness Arena.
The 3-seed Denver Pioneers are competing in their 19th NCAA Frozen Four in program history.
Tied with the Michigan Wolverines for the most national titles with nine, DU is in its fifth Frozen Four appearance in the last eight NCAA tournaments. The Pioneers' most recent titles came in 2017 and 2022.
The last time DU faced BU was on October 27, 2017, winning 4-3 in Boston. Denver is on a four-game win streak against the Terriers since 2016.
The winner of Thursday’s matchup will face the winner between 1-seed Boston College and Michigan at 6:30 p.m. Denver’s four national titles are tied with Boston College for the most since 2000.
Locations across Denver will be ready to host fans eager to root for the Pioneers. DU’s Magness Arena will also open its doors to fans interested in watching the game where their hockey team skates.
