USA Today national baseball writer Bob Nightengale is reporting that the Rockies are expected to name a new skipper in the next day or two.
The position has been open for a month. Former Rockies manager Walt Weiss announced he wouldn't seek a contract extension Oct. 3.
Since then, a laundry list of candidates' names have been linked the job. Glenallen Hill, who manages the Rockies' Triple-A affiliate, was one of them. Former big-league managers Bud Black and Ron Roenicke expressed interest in the job to the Denver Post. Marlins bench coach Tim Wallach also reportedly interviewed for the job.
Rockies general manager Jeff Bridich said the Rockies would look at candidates outside the organization in a conference call shortly after Colorado and Weiss parted ways. That appears to have occurred.
Now we'll see if one of those candidates lands the job.
