An investigation into the death of a Boulder County Jail inmate has found deputies failed to conduct welfare checks on the woman as frequently as they should have.
Stephanie Anderson died May 27, one day after she was booked into the jail on suspicion of theft. The Boulder County Coroner's Office determined Anderson died of natural causes related to an existing heart condition.
A report of the investigation released Wednesday says some inmates reported deputies ignoring Anderson's pleas for help. Others reported the yelling came from another disruptive inmate housed next to Anderson.
The investigation summary also found medical staff didn't check on or re-evaluate Anderson following a hospital visit. It also says deputies should've checked on her more because she was on suicide watch.
Those concerns are under further investigation.
