The Denver Broncos are the 11th-most valuable franchise in football, according to Forbes.
The business magazine/website unveiled its annual list of the most valuable NFL teams, and estimated that the defending Super Bowl champions are worth $2.4 billion dollars. That marks a 25 percent increase from the $1.94 billion the Broncos were valued at a year ago.
NFL teams are valued 19 percent higher than they were in 2015. The average NFL team is worth $2.34 billion, Forbes found.
Franchises that have or are in the process of constructing new stadiums saw the biggest jumps in valuation.
The Los Angeles Rams, who moved west from St. Louis, doubled in value to $2.9 billion. They are playing three seasons in the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum. The plan is to move into their new 80,000-seat monstrosity in Inglewood, California, in 2019.
The Oakland Raiders and San Diego Chargers also received significant jumps. The Raiders are up 47 percent, and the Chargers 36 percent. Both are in line for new stadiums in the near future.
The Raiders have three options on the table: Get a new stadium in Oakland, move into the Rams’ soon-to-be finished home in Inglewood, or relocate to Las Vegas. The Chargers can also move in with Stan Kroenke’s Rams — the have first priority over the Raiders — or get a new stadium in San Diego.
It’s possible the Broncos’ value will increase once they find someone to take over the naming rights to Mile High Stadium. Sports Authority once held them, but the company went bankrupt. The Broncos are in the process of deciding which company will next take over the naming rights.
