Chipotle announced it will hire 5,000 employees on Sept. 28 for its second-annual National Career Day. The new hires will join an existing workforce of approximately 60,000.
Managers of each restaurant will host open interviews from 8:00 to 11:00 a.m. and from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. that Wednesday.
“Working here isn’t just a job, but a career where employees learn how to make others better, run a successful business, master culinary skills, and most importantly, become true leaders, of teams of top performers," Monty Moran, co-CEO of Chipotle said in a statement.
Chipotle offers a benefits package that includes paid sick leave and vacation time, as well as tuition assistance, discounted graduate and undergraduate classes, insurance and a 401(k) matching program.
Despite the benefits it provides employees, Chipotle has come under fire within the past year for allegations of gender discrimination and, most recently, wage theft.
More than 9,000 current and former Chipotle employees have filed a class-action law suit against the company for practices encouraging off-the-clock work and restricting over-time pay.
