Jay Thomas, pastry chef at Rosenberg's Bagels & Delicatessen, wrote in a Five Points neighborhood Facebook group this afternoon that the bagel shop will reopen on Oct. 16.

On Wednesday, Rosenberg's replied to a post on its own Facebook page asking when it would reopen: "We are aiming for Sunday the 16th of October. Fingers crossed!!"

Fingers crossed.

Rosenberg's was forced to closed back in May when a fire in an apartment above it -- set in a failed attempt to cover up a murder -- caused significant water damage.

In the meantime, Rosenberg's has been selling its beloved New York bagels at The Source in RiNo and working on setting up shop in the Stanley Marketplace.

Update: The Oct. 16 reopening date was confirmed in an Oct. 5 press release.

“At Rosenberg’s, the joy we get from serving and connecting with our community is what drives us,” owner Josh Pollack said in a statement. “The warm reception we’ve received in Five Points is truly unparalleled. We have missed our customers and neighbors and can’t wait to get back to serving the best bagels, appetizing and deli that we can.”

The announcement also says that since Rosenberg's closed in May, Pollack and his staff have been donating all the proceeds from the pop-up shops to local charities, including Project Angel Heart, Friends of the Denver Fire Department, Slow Food Denver, Stamp Out Hunger, and others.
