Uniqlo is giving people in downtown Denver a taste of what it plans to offer customers after it opens its doors in October.
The Japanese-based clothing retailer is hosting a fashion show on the 16th Street Mall from noon to 2 p.m. Friday. Uniqlo plans to officially open for business Oct. 28, a representative for the store told Denverite.
Uniqlo initially planned to open on the mall Friday, but the store decided to push the opening back to better capture customers shopping for fall and winter clothes.
Uniqlo is renovating the space that was previously occupied by Barnes & Noble in The Denver Pavilions. The two-story, 22,000-square-foot store will be about a block away from the global retailer H&M.
For the opening, Uniqlo is hiring about 90 workers.
The Uniqlo on the mall will be the retailer's first location in Colorado and only store in the state for at least two years, according to the Downtown Denver Partnership.
