Catholic Charities, an arm of the Archdiocese of Denver, will open a new shelter next year for women experiencing homelessness.

The Samaritan House Women’s Shelter at 6240 E. Smith Road will have 150 beds available each night for “single women,” offering both short- and long-term shelter.

The city of Denver provided about $1 million of the project’s $5 million budget. The 33,000-square-foot building dates to 1973, according to property records.
