In the aftermath of the Denver Broncos 16-3 loss to the New England Patriots on Sunday, tensions in the Broncos' locker room reportedly boiled over.
NFL.com's Mike Silver reported that cornerback Aqib Talib didn't like it when Broncos left tackle Russell Okung — a member of the team's underperforming offense — tried to address the team following the defeat.
"According to several witnesses, that set off a spirited shouting match between the team's defensive backs and offensive linemen," Silver wrote. "One which Kubiak had to diffuse before it turned ugly."
On Wednesday, Talib was asked about the kerfuffle. Talib said that Silver's recounting of the incident might have been overblown.
“I think it was too big of a deal," Talib said. "I argue with my mother, and she still makes me breakfast. It’s part of football. It wasn’t even like an argument. I don’t know who did it, but I think that they made too much of it.”
What do you think Talib's mother makes for breakfast? I am legitimately curious. Eggs? Potatoes? Bacon? Sausage? Do you think she throws it all together and makes a good quiche? Quiche is wonderful, man. I love when my mom makes quiche.
“Personally, T.J. [Ward] and I argue every Wednesday and Thursday to get our game plan right," Talib said. "It’s just part of what me and T.J. do, (and) it’s been working for us.
“It happened a lot last year. We won, so you guys didn’t want to talk about that.”
The Broncos' loss to New England on Sunday didn't knock them completely out of the playoff picture, but it did leave them hanging on by a thread. FiveThirtyEight is giving the Broncos a 17 percent chance to get in. Denver will need to beat Kansas City and Oakland and get some help.
The Broncos kick off against the Chiefs at 6:30 p.m. Sunday.
