The incident happened at 1550 Sable Blvd., near the intersection of I-70 and I-225 in north Aurora. No one else was injured.
Update, 5:45 p.m.: Diana Cooley, spokeswoman for the Aurora Police Department, said officers were attempting to arrest a person wanted for aggravated motor vehicle theft and who is known to be armed and dangerous. The suspect fled in a car and drove into a ditch.
As of now, the reason shots were fired and the number of shots that were fired is still under investigation.
The suspect was taken to a hospital with serious injuries. One other person was in the car.
