Denver International Airport will receive a $8.4 million grant from the Department of Transportation to improve the service road, runway rehabilitation, and runway lighting.
Sen. Cory Gardner announced the grant Monday, noting that the money will go to infrastructure improvements.
“Denver International Airport serves tens of thousands of Coloradans every year and it’s important it receives the necessary resources to continue serving our great state,” Gardner said in a release.
Gardner's office wasn't immediately available for further details. DIA communication specialist Daria Serna sent the following statement from the airport:
"We appreciate the opportunity for this grant. The funds will assist with the scheduled maintenance of one of our runways, expected to begin this summer. These types of improvements are important as we continue to have record passenger traffic. We appreciate our strong partnership with the USDOT and FAA."
