Were you thinking of traveling basically anywhere in Denver this Sunday morning? I recommend reconsidering that.
The 12th annual Colfax Marathon is Sunday and, as you might guess, will have some impacts on major roads around town.
Maybe you've heard of these little streets called "Speer Boulevard" or "Colfax Avenue"? Yeah both of those will be partially closed. In the case of Colfax, starting as early as 3 a.m. Sunday and continuing through 1 p.m. along a stretch from Aurora to Lakewood.
Race organizers recommend avoiding them altogether and using I-25 if you'd like to move north or south.
Plus, roads that merely cross Colfax Avenue and 17th Avenue could experience significant delays. Here's the full breakdown if you were planning to drive somewhere.
RTD, in a perhaps understated tweet, notes that several routes will be affected.
A full 26 routes will be delayed or detoured, by my count. Here's a list, including classics like the 15 and 0 bus routes:
Sounds like a great day to go for a stroll, if you ask me.
