The Colorado Statesman will continue to exist as an organization, but it will lose its venerable name in a merger with Clarity Media.
The Statesman's website was rebranded as Colorado Politics today. Later in 2017, the print newspaper itself will be rebranded as Colorado Politics, according to an official announcement.
Colorado Politics is a digital publication launched last November by Clarity Media, which publishes the Colorado Springs Gazette. Clarity is owned by billionaire Philip Anschutz. Anschutz's media holdings were detailed in the New Yorker in 2012.
The Statesman has published nonstop in print since 1898.
