20 people can create simultaneous music with rocking chairs at free Denver Art Museum exhibit

A new piece going on display outside the Denver Art Museum could be really awesome, really annoying or perhaps both. La Musidora, which opens this Friday, will invite 20 people at a time to make music by sitting on a 90-foot-long piece of art.
The piece is made up of literal musical chairs: Each of the 20 seats includes “a percussion system which uses bells to produce pitches when gently rocked,” writes Elle Welch, a spokeswoman for DAM.
The piece is designed by Héctor Esrawe and Ignacio Cadena, members of a Mexico City firm. “La Musidora” is a combination of the Spanish words for “music” and “rocking chair.”
Location: It will stand in the plaza just east of the angular Frederic C. Hamilton Building — you know, the one that juts across 13th Avenue.
Price: Admission will be free. No purchase of any ticket is necessary, despite other media reports to the contrary.
When: La Musidora will be on display from June 30 to Oct. 29.
