Less than 3,000 of you Coloradans have requested a Colorado Rockies license plate, but that doesn't matter anymore.
Originally, the baseball-support-showing plate was going to be discontinued because it hadn't hit the required number of 3,000 issued plates. It was one of 14 plates that were on the chopping block, as the state announced earlier this year.
Now, the Division of Motor Vehicles is reinterpreting the rules. Apparently, there's some flexibility in the law -- and the DMV recently switched over to a new system that allows custom plates to be printed on demand.
So, happy day, all these plates will be saved from impending deadlines:

- Craig Hospital
- Denver Nuggets
- Juvenile Diabetes
- Kids First
- State Parks
- Support Education
- Support the Horse
- Child Loss Awareness
- Colorado Rockies
- Flight for Life Colorado
- Girl Scouts
- Protect Our Rivers
As of April, about 1,900 people had requested Rockies plates, along with 285 Girl Scouts plates and 2,277 Avalanche team plates, according to 9News.
Some plates come with a donation to a charitable cause. A full list is available here.
Each specialty plate is created by an individual piece of legislation. No other custom plates face elimination, according to department spokesman Kyle Boyd.
