Thousands of people still want to swing into Denver in October for the Great American Beer Festival. They're just not as eager to do so as they have been in past years.
Tickets to the three-day event sold out Wednesday in four hours and 15 minutes, said Barbara Fusco, sales and marketing director for the Brewers Association. That's up from the past two years when tickets sold out in little over an hour.
The Brewers Association brings together brewers from across the country for its annual craft beer competition and associated beer tasting event. The Boulder-based nonprofit is not worried that the 60,000 tickets to the event didn't go quite as fast this year.
"With any event of GABF’s longevity — this year will mark our 36th year — I think it’s natural to see some fluctuations in the patterns of demand and selling out," Fusco said in an email. "To me, a same-day sell out shows that GABF remains popular with beer lovers who are excited for the unique opportunity to come sample beers from well over 800 breweries from all over the country, all in one place at one time."
