I hope you're in the mood for a movie tonight, because there are a few great options.
In Governor's Park, 701 Pennsylvania St., LaLa's Wine Bar + Pizzeria is hosting a showing of "The Goonies."
The movie starts at 8:15 p.m., but LaLa's will be serving pizza, Peroni and wine in the beer garden in advance, with all proceeds going to Capitol Hill United Neighborhood.
Bring your own blankets or chairs for the movie.
At the Denver Museum of Nature & Science, 2001 Colorado Blvd., the Denver Film Society is hosting another edition in its Sci-Fi Film Series.
Tonight, they're showing Arrival (which I strongly recommend) with a bunch of experts in attendance to answer your questions — Ka Chun Yu, PhD, space scientist, Andrew Pantos, PhD, associate professor of english and linguistics, and Vincent Piturro, associate professor of film and media studies at MSU-Denver.
It starts at 7 p.m. and tickets are $12-15.
Over at Civic Center Park, the Civic Center Conservancy and Outdoor Cinema Network will present "Back to the Future."
It's free as always, picnics are welcome and food trucks will be on-site starting at 6:30 p.m. They'll also have corn hole, bocce and a prize wheel. The movie starts at dusk, around 8:30 p.m.
And in non-film things to do: Mixed Taste is back at it again.
Two speakers will take 20 minutes each on seemingly unrelated subjects, and when they’re done, an audience Q&A will help connect the topics. This time, the topics are asparagus and money laundering with Carol O'Meara, a CSU Extension agent who manages the Boulder County Master Gardener program, and Micah Schwalb, an adjunct professor at CU Boulder's law school who counsels financial institutions on anti-money laundering.
It starts at 6:30 p.m. and tickets are $20.
