Cooler temperatures and slightly stormy weather for Denver today, Aug. 22

Good morning. The high in Denver today is 83 degrees and there’s a 20 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms after 1 p.m., according to the National Weather Service.

The storms will be concentrated on the Front Range mountains and foothills, but one may also form over Denver. Storms over the metro may produce brief but heavy rain, gusty winds, hail and lots of lightning, according to NWS

Thunderstorms will pick up in frequency through Thursday before the area begins to clear out on Friday, NWS forecasts.
