Princess is a 1.5 year-old Mastiff mix with "kind eyes and gentle demeanor." Guinness is a 2-year-old Siberian Husky mix with a "luxurious coat." Moe is 1-year-old "wiggly boy."

These dogs and many more are up for adoption at the Denver Animal Shelter, which is participating in a nationwide "Clear the Shelters" event. Throughout August, adoption fees are $50 for dogs and $30 for cats (typical adoption fees range from $150 to $170 for dogs and $95 to $110 for cats). The fees include spay and neuter surgery, microchipping, vaccines and a pet license.

The event comes as pet surrenders are high, with shelter capacity limited this year, both at the Denver Animal Shelter and across the country.

"We've found your new best friend who will always put you first, who'll never disappoint you, and never ghost you for a guy or girl," wrote the Denver Animal shelter in a release Thursday. "That BFF is patiently waiting for you to pick them up at Denver Animal Shelter (DAS)."
