It's that time of year again, where livestock from across the country and world take over Denver for two weeks (otherwise known as the National Western Stock Show).

Whether you're participating, attending or not at all involved, plan for some traffic disruptions as the annual parade kicks off at Union Station Thursday.

The parade route will run east from Union Station down 17th Street to Glenarm Place, and then back west up 18th Street to McGregor Square and the Stock Show Fair. Expect those roads to be closed, plus potentially others in that area.

The Regional Transportation District (RTD) will suspend light rail service on the D, H and L lines downtown between 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. Thursday. Here are the details:

  • The D and H lines will end at Theatre District/Convention Center Station
  • The L line will not run at all during the parade
  • These bus routes will have detours: 0, 1, 6, 8, 9, 10, 15, 15L, 19, 20, 28, 38, 43, 44, 48 and 52
  • The free MallRide will not run between 11:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m.

The Stock Show starts Thursday and runs through Jan. 21.
