Move over EV discounts and e-bike rebates — Denverites can also qualify for lesser known (but arguably sexier) lawn mower trade ins.

The Regional Air Quality Council, which does air quality planning for the front range, is using fines from industrial facilities to help residents trade in gas-powered lawn mowers for electric mowers.

According to the Council, using a gas powered mower for an hour is equivalent to the pollution generated by driving from Denver to Utah.

The trade-ins will give residents a $300 state discount on an electric mower, which typically sells for around $400.

These are the eligible zip codes: 80022, 80024, 80221, 80640, 80229, 80260, 80216, 80205, 80211, 80207, 80238, 80239, 80249. Residents outside those zip codes can still get 30% state discounts.

The program is first-come, first-serve, and requires residents to bring in their old mower for recycling.

Here’s where residents get an electric mower. The hours run between 9 a.m. and 1 p.m.
