The crowds are going to be thicker than guacamole at this week's taco festivities, so you might want to plan ahead and know what's up before you wade in. Quickly, here is everything you need to know.

Top Taco Denver

The swankier of Denver's two taco festivals, Top Taco asks attendees to vote for the best of the fest. The heftier price tag gets you unlimited taco tastes and signature tequila cocktails from more than 50 restaurants, including Torchy's Tacos, Los Chingones, La Loma, Comida, Illegal Pete's and Uno Mas. There will also be live music.

When: 6:30-9:30 p.m. Thursday
Where: CU Denver Fields on Auraria Campus, at about Auraria Parkway and 12th Street
Cost: $74 general admission, $94 first tasting, $131.50 VIP

Denver Taco Fest

This festival does things... a little differently.

Denver Taco Festival has position itself as the more laid-back and traditional fest. For a low price of admission, it offers $2 tacos, a tequila and agave tasting, lucha libre wrestling, live music, live game shows and chihuahua racing.

When: Noon-9 p.m. Saturday and noon-7 p.m. Sunday
Where: In and around the Glitterdome Event Center, 3600 Wynkoop St.
Cost: $11 in advance, $12 day-of, free for kids 12 and younger
