The swim beach at Chatfield State Park remains closed today, with the results of tests for elevated levels of E. coli expected late this afternoon.

Park manager Jennifer Anderson announced the closure Wednesday in a press release. Park officials alerted guests and closed off the beach immediately upon receiving the results.

Anderson said high temperatures may have caused elevated bacteria levels, but the beach closure should not dissuade guests from enjoying other activities, such as boating, fishing or picnicking.

The beach will remain closed and water tested daily until E. coli levels normalize.
