Denver-based Galvanize co-working space is opening in New York

The Denver-based co-working space Galvanize announced plans Tuesday to open its first East Coast location next year in New York City.

The Denver-based co-working space Galvanize announced plans Tuesday to open its first East Coast location next year in New York City.

The Manhattan office would be the ninth campus Galvanize has opened since starting in Denver in 2012. Until the grand opening in 2017, the company will be operating out of a 6,000-square-foot pop-up space in New York City.

The New York City campus enables Galvanize to start and expand corporate partnerships. To that end, Galvanize’s collaboration with IBM to help boost cloud development and skills in fields such as data science will be expanded to New York, according to the announcement.

Galvanize offers classes and workshops in web development, data science and data engineering. The company also has hundreds of members — including your friends at Denverite — who pay to work out of Galvanize campuses.

Co-founders Jim Deters, Lawrence Mandes and Chris Onan launched Galvanize in 2012 to help entrepreneurs connect with growth opportunities and other startups. The company now has four campuses along the Front Range as well as one each in Austin, Phoenix, San Francisco and Seattle.
