In a five-way tie, Colorado had the lowest percentage of homes in foreclosure among mortgaged homes, according to a nationwide report from Corelogic. Only 0.3 percent of mortgaged homes in the state are in the process of foreclosure.

And among Corelogic's study of 10 major metros, only San Francisco had fewer foreclosures than Denver did. However, Denver saw a bigger drop in foreclosure inventory in the 12 month period since last May.

This is hardly surprising. Denver real estate developers who flip houses told me that homes in foreclosure are a popular purchase. Plus, the relative strength of the overall market means reductions in foreclosure inventory.
