Denver police struck by fleeing carjacker near downtown

A Denver police vehicle was struck by a carjacking suspect Monday as the man was making a getaway.

The police department tweeted about the incident near West Colfax Avenue and Kalamath Street shortly after 8:45 p.m. Monday. Officers were not injured and are looking for a white Kia Soul with a Texas license plate.

Channel7 reports, police first received a call about a man threatening people with a knife inside the Burger King restaurant at Colfax Avenue and Kalamath Street. When officers arrived, a woman told them her car had just been stolen.

After a brief pursuit, officers held back, 9News reports.
