The Planned Parenthood shooter is still incompetent to stand trial
John Dear Jr. was sent to the Colorado State Mental Health Institute at Pueblo to be treatment for delusional disorder three months ago.
Evaluators have determined that John Dear Jr. is still mentally unfit for trial, the Colorado Springs Gazette reports.
Dear, who proudly admitted to carrying out the shooting that killed three and wounded nine at the Colorado Springs Planned Parenthood clinic, was sent to the Colorado State Mental Health Institute at Pueblo to be treatment for delusional disorder three months ago.
Today, a judge ordered him to stay there for another 90 days.
He will reappear in court Nov. 17, according to the Gazette, when Fourth Judicial District Chief Judge Gilbert Martinez will also rule on requests by the defense that they be notified in advance if Dear is forced to take medication and that Dear be barred from speaking to reporters while he’s in treatment.
Dear has been charged on 179 counts, including eight charges of first-degree murder.
