Now Denver’s KWGN-Channel 2 — “Colorado’s Own” — will give transplants a taste of home by offering the metro area’s first 11 p.m. newscast.
“I was raised in Colorado, but I’ve lived on the east and the west coasts. I know people on both are used to getting their news at 11 p.m.,” Holly Gauntt, vice president of news and digital content for KWGN, said in a press release. “With all of the people moving to Colorado, we want to give our viewers news when they’re used to getting it.”
Newscasts at odd hours — designed to be convenient for people who don’t like their news at 5 p.m., 6 p.m. or 10 p.m. — are already a thing for Channel 2, which has broadcasts at 4 p.m. and 7 p.m.
News at 11 p.m. launches Sept. 12 and will feature anchors Mike Barz and Erika Gonzalez and meteorologist Matt Makens. Barz will still anchor the 10 p.m. news on sister station Fox 31.
