Mestizos taco truck's foray into the political realm was not without consequences. There's now a GoFundMe to help owner Jose Luis Gonzalez recover from some recent vandalism and restore the truck to its previous glory.

There's no proof the vandalism incident is connected, but the timing is awfully suspicious. Vandals trashed the inside of Gonzalez' taco truck after he parked in front of Donald Trump's field office as part of some political theater organized by Colorado Democrats.

They were responding to comments by Marco Gutierrez of Latinos for Trump that,  “If you don’t do something about it, you’re gonna have taco trucks on every corner."

It's a pretty modest goal, just $1,000, but the margins on a taco truck can't be that big either.

The damage wasn't enough to keep Gonzalez from operating but it's still noticeable. Here's how the GoFundMe describes it:

Money was stolen from our safe, some doors were forced open causing them to get mangled. Our coolers were tipped over causing everything inside to spill and go to waste. It took us a good amount of time to clean and fix some of the damages but are still left with some very obvious disfigurations and damaged equipment.

We have decided to start this Go Fund Me Page to raise money to fix the remaining damages and continue to operate and stand against those who belittle our business and industry. We appreciate those who have supported us through these rough patches and it warms our hearts to know how much support we have out there.
