A 16-year-old girl was shot and killed in Thornton last night

Police are investigating a shooting death last night n the area of Monaco Way and Krameria Street.

Police are investigating a shooting death last night in the area of Monaco Way and Krameria Street.

The suspect is described as a skinny, 5'6" Hispanic male with dark hair, glasses and a nose ring.

Update: A release from Thornton police spokesman Matt Barnes that the victim was 16 years old and the suspect is believed to be in his late teens or early 20s. The victim's name has not been released.

The shooting happened at a house party around 1:40 a.m. The girl was found in the street with a gunshot wound in her torso, and witnesses reported hearing a disturbance and shots fired. She was pronounced dead at the hospital.

Barnes added in an email that police are looking for witnesses who fled the scene before officers arrived.
