The Denver Broncos have been a phenomenal road football team against AFC West opponents the last six years. Prior to Thursday's debacle against the San Diego Chargers, Denver won every single AFC West road game since Dec. 19, 2010.
Who was the quarterback that day? You might be able to guess. (Hint: He wore a lot of hair gel and kneeled frequently.) That brings us to our first number from Denver's 21-13 loss to the Chargers on Thursday Night Football.
15 — Denver recorded 15 straight AFC West road wins before the steak was snapped against San Diego. Tim Tebow was the starter the last time Denver fell in such a game. He completed 8 of 16 passes for 138 yards and a touchdown. Only 34 fewer attempts than Trevor Siemian on Thursday!
50 — Yup, that's right: Siemian threw the ball a whopping 50 times against the Chargers. Denver was hamstrung when it got behind 21-3 and didn't have much of a choice. His final line: 30 for 50, 230 yards, 4.6 yards per attempt and one touchdown. Also, one of whatever this was:
1 — Siemian completed one pass 10-plus yards downfield in nine attempts. Siemian is going to have to start doing better on those intermediate and long passes, or the cries for Paxton Lynch are only going to get louder.
6 — Six pressures for Joey Bosa. The No. 3 overall pick in the 2016 NFL draft is already up to 14 pressures on the season, according to Pro Football Focus. That's the most among all rookie defensive linemen. Bosa missed the first four games of the season. Dude looks like he's going to be the real deal.
9.2 — Devontae Booker's yards per carry average Thursday. The rookie running back was one of the few bright spots for Denver's offense. He carried the ball five times for 46 yards.
Starting tailback C.J. Anderson had another rough outing, with 10 carries for 37 yards. He hasn't been above 3.7 yards per carry since the season opener against Carolina. We could see Booker featured more prominently in the future.
