Jason Coy, 36, fell about 60 feet from a stairwell railing at Sports Authority Field at Mile High after a Broncos game on Monday, Oct. 25, according to the Denver Police Department.
He died on Tuesday morning at Denver Health, according to the city's Office of the Medical Examiner.
Update: A fundraiser has been launched for Coy's family.
The fall happened around 9:45 p.m., just after the game. Coy was "sitting on a railing and fell approximately 60 feet," according to police. The fall happened in an "enclosed stairwell," rather than in one of the seating sections, according to spokesperson Doug Schepman. The stairwell was described to Schepman as "Stairwell Four."
The man reportedly fell vertically, as opposed to falling from step to step, Schepman said. Witnesses and emergency responders rushed to provide aid.

Joe Garza told Denverite that he saw the aftermath of the fall. He was waiting to file down the staircase when he saw a woman run up the stairs while "frantically crying." The woman returned shortly afterward with emergency workers and police officers and led them back down the stairs. By the time Garza reached the bottom of the stairs, the man had been taken away but a pool of blood remained, he said.
The fall happened near Gate 5, which is on the northeast side of the stadium near the South Platte River, according to the Denver Post.
An online fundraiser says that Coy "lost his balance, falling over the stair railing." The fundraiser states that Coy is a father of five children, ranging from 6 months to 11 years old. It appears to be supported by friends of the family.
Stadium Management Company provided a brief statement about the incident Tuesday morning.
“A fan was taken to the hospital after falling over a stairwell railing at Sports Authority Field at Mile High shortly after Monday night’s game," the statement read. "Our thoughts are with the injured fan, and we are in the process of learning more about this incident from the Denver Police Department’s investigation.”
