Forget the heat of the plains – three more of Colorado's ski resorts say they're ready to start the season this week.
There's good news for Epic Pass holders, but a delay for Copper Mountain means Rocky Mountain Super Pass buyers will be waiting until next week or later.
First up: Loveland Ski Area. They say they'll open Thursday with one top-to-bottom run.
"Lift 1 will run from 9:00am until 4:00pm on Thursday and will offer skiers and riders access to one top-to-bottom run covered from tree-to-tree with an 18 inch base. The trails Catwalk, Mambo and Home Run make up this opening day run which is over a mile in length and nearly 1,000 vertical feet," a news release stated.
Then come the rest. Breckenridge and Keystone also are on track for a Friday opening. Winter Park anticipates Nov. 16.
And the Copper delay:
Copper Mountain had intended to open this Friday with a big party. The party will still happen, but opening day has been pushed back to Nov. 18.
"Unseasonably warm temperatures have limited snowmaking production and hindered the ability to create a product up to Copper’s standards," the resort said in a news release.
Open terrain for the first day "will include the trails Rhapsody and Main Vein via the American Eagle lift, and the trail Ptarmigan via the Excelerator lift," according to Copper. The resort says cooler temperatures ahead should help them make that Nov. 18 date.
Winter Park, meanwhile, is currently scheduled for Nov. 16. We'll see.
