The Denver Police Department reported an officer-involved shooting around noon today in the 14500 block of East 46th Avenue.

An Aurora police officer was shot in Denver following a confrontation with a suspect outside a home in Montbello, Denver Police spokesman John White said early this afternoon.

Denver police have since announced that the suspect was killed in the confrontation with police. He was pronounced dead on the scene.

The Aurora Police Department contacted the Denver Police Department around 11:30 a.m. to say they were pursuing a suspect in a fatal shooting at 142 Del Mar Circle, Aurora, across city lines. They had information indicating that the suspect had a connection to a residence at 14572 E. 46th Ave.

Several Aurora police officers and one Denver police officers arrived at that address. When a person emerged, a confrontation ensued and an Aurora officer was shot.

He was taken to the hospital and is in stable condition.

LaMont Clifton, 46, was among several neighborhood residents who earlier told Denverite they saw a lifeless body after shots were fired.

He said he saw police cars come to the neighborhood and followed them, then heard something like 20 shots and saw a man's body unmoving on the ground.

Israel Contreras, another neighborhood resident, said he saw the same thing.

"I’m just tired of all this shit," Clifton said. "I’m tired of this gun violence."

Police have set up a wide perimeter around the area and are asking people to keep away.
