Denver winters mean more time on the market for homesellers

Do fall's hues make for better home sales? (Kevin J. Beaty/Denverite)
For most of the country, putting your house on the market in winter isn’t actually that bad, according to Redfin.
For Denver, it’s actually the season with the fewest home sales in under 30 days.

Spring was the best season for getting a homes off the market within 30 days.
It’s not that Denver has especially bad winters. Chicago and Boston both had more home sales in under 30 days during winter than during the fall.
In fact, only one other metropolitan area had the fewest homes sales in under 30 days during winter — famously balmy Miami.
Denver homesellers don’t pull in more money during the winter either. Spring is the best time to get more money than the asking price in this area.

Summer had the fewest homes sold above list price in Denver.
And seasonality isn’t really the most important part of the Denver housing market, anyway. And the latest from the Denver Metro Association of Realtors says that properties that would’ve got multiple offers above asking price are receiving more conservative offers.
So maybe some homebuyers will get lucky this winter.
