Is Paxton Lynch ready? It's looking more and more like he'll be the starting quarterback when the Broncos face the Jacksonville Jaguars on Sunday.
Incumbent starter Trevor Siemian missed practice again Thursday with a sprained left foot.
That means the Broncos — 1-2 in their last three games, and desperately needing a win — could call upon their rookie first-round pick if Siemian can't play.
Lynch has played roughly a game and a half this season. He filled in for Siemian in the second half of Denver's Week 4 win over Tampa Bay. Lynch got the start the following game against Atlanta as Siemian recovered.
In about six quarters of action, he's completed 37 of 59 passes for two touchdowns and one interception. He looked confident against Tampa Bay. The next week, he looked overwhelmed as the Falcons applied major pressure against him.
Nothing's set in stone yet. Siemian could still come back. But don't be surprised if Lynch gets the start Sunday.
The Broncos, who close the season against the Titans, Patriots, Chiefs then Raiders, need to win against 2-9 Jacksonville. It's possible they'll rely on a quarterback with six quarters of regular-season action to do so.
