Marijuana advocates and industry leaders are celebrating this week, as combined revenue from recreational and medical marijuana passed $1 billion and brought a record $151.4 million in taxes to the state.
As for Denver, it's keeping on track for a record-setting year in its own right, according to data provided by the city.
Through October, the city has sold about 20 percent more marijuana than during all of 2015 -- about $417 million worth.
Recreational marijuana totaled $235 million in sales, or roughly 57 percent. Medical sales totaled $180.4 million or about 43 percent. And the city has brought in a total of $23.4 million in combined medical and recreational taxes, or about $2 million per month.
Despite sales across the state reaching an all-time high in September, Denver's sales dipped slightly after August and have continued sliding into October.
