Colorado Rockies starting pitcher Chad Bettis was diagnosed with testicular cancer in November, but after a successful surgery, Bettis says he is now cancer-free.
"I feel great," said Bettis on SiriusXM MLB Network Radio's Power Alley show Wednesday. "I got an early Christmas present the other day. The doctor called me on Dec. 22 and told me that I'm cancer-free, so all is good, and I'm ready to push forward here."
Bettis had one of his testicles removed in late November. He said that he's already resumed throwing and working out.
Bettis went 14-8 with a 4.78 ERA in 186 innings last season. He figures to be a part of the Rockies' starting staff in 2017.
