Denver Art Museum to unveil renovation plans in upcoming exhibit
The Denver Art Museum plans to give a glimpse of what’s planned for its North Building in the upcoming exhibition “Then, Now, Next: Evolution of an Architectural Icon.”

The Denver Art Museum plans to give a glimpse of what’s planned for its North Building in the upcoming exhibition “Then, Now, Next: Evolution of an Architectural Icon.”
Reconstruction of the North Building is expected to start this year and wrap up in 2021. The exhibition will open Feb. 19 and feature historical photos, original architectural sketches, building models and project renderings of the modernist structure.
The Denver Art Museum announced plans for the North Building’s $150 million renovation last month after it secured a sixth of the project’s funding.
“For nearly 50 years, the North Building has been a significant part of the community, and we’re excited for the upcoming project that will ensure it continues to play a prominent role,” said Christoph Heinrich, the director of the museum, in a statement. “We want to honor the building, and give our visitors an opportunity to reflect on its history and share the excitement for its future.”
Exhibition visitors will have the opportunity to share their favorite North Building experiences through an in-gallery visitor feedback installation. The exhibition will be included in general museum admission and run through Aug. 31, according to the museum.
