UPDATE: The Rapids have now moved one more road game from the first half of the season to the second half -- and it's against the formidable Los Angeles Galaxy. That means there are 10 away games and five home games after July 4.
I was just marking down a few dates of Colorado Rapids games I plan to attend as a fan this year and I noticed something a little troubling.
The Rapids always put on a show at Dick's Sporting Goods on July 4 with an annual fireworks display. This year, July 4 holds even more significance -- at just over halfway through the season, it will mark the end of a Rapids-friendly part of the schedule that features 12 home games and eight games on the road.
The rest of the year features nine games on the road and just five at home.
Here's how the Rapids have performed on the road over the last few years:

Last year, they were undefeated at home, which accounted for their surprise second-place finish. This year, wherever they are on July 4, you might expect them to drop a few spots in the standings over the course of the rest of the season.
Correction: This post previously said that we also don't know how the CONCACAF Champions League schedule would impact the Rapids toward the end of the year, but we do -- it won't. The Rapids shouldn't see tournament action until early 2018, under the new format.
