The Boulder International Film Festival is in town on Thursday through Sunday, bringing dozens of films to six venues across our neighbor city.
I won't pretend to offer you any guidance on film selection – for that, refer to the program or 303 Magazine's festival guide.
However, I did want to call out an interesting addition: a free virtual reality theater that will be running on Friday and Saturday. They'll have about a dozen stations playing eight VR films – as in, a film that utilizes a headset to surround the viewer with imagery.
The pavilion will be open on Friday, March 3 from 1 to 8 p.m. and on March 4 from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. at Galvanize Boulder, 1023 Walnut Street. There also will be a kick-off party on Friday from 5 to 7 p.m. and meetups on Sunday for tech at 2 p.m. and storytelling at 4 p.m.
The films playing include Pearl, an animated film, the VR version of Chasing Coral and more. Anyway, this could be a cool opportunity to see how creative people are using this emerging technology. Have fun.
